Vacancy For Trainee French Tax Assistant -  Location  -Thame, Oxfordshire 

This is a very interesting position for a dynamic person to work with a small informal friendly team based in East Oxfordshire, approx 15 miles from central Oxford . Established in 1988,we have an opening for a trainee French Tax Assistant, to assist our  clients in submitting French income tax declarations in respect of the French  rental income generated from their French property.  Ideally suited to a French native speaker, with a background in finance. 
 

Skills Sought  (in order of priority)

Fluency in French and English  (spoken and written)
Good communication and telephone manner
Mathematical or Financial analytical experience
Attention to detail
Competent with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint
Organized with initiative to work efficiently and independently within a team ethic
 

The role is to give support to the French Tax department, which is a combination of administrative assistance and the completion and submission of  annual French tax returns for the French property owner.

Whilst you will be under the supervision of the Tax Manager, once trained,  many of the duties will be performed with little or no supervision.  This includes the completion and submission of French income  tax declarations to the French tax authorities and the use of  in- house tax model spreadsheets.   

You will be required to deal with clients over the phone , taking general enquiries, making appointments, filing paperwork, performing data entry (maintaining databases), scanning documents, organising the archives and receiving and sorting mail, along with any other tasks that contribute to the functioning of the office.

You will need to learn and understand basic French Tax laws and Regulations which apply to the French property owner  and the treatment of French rental income generated from the  French property

Qualifications 

GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics  to A or B  level
The financial qualification equivalent to CeMap is helpful but not essential.
The package will include performance related pay on top of an annual basic and will be based on experience and qualifcations.
Hours   Monday to Friday  9.00 -  6.00 ( lunch 30 mins)
Additional hours required seasonally to maximize PRP
